At Apex, recovery is just as important as training. That’s why we’ve partnered with Dr. Angel Cortez, Doctor of Chiropractic, who brings a clinical, athlete-centered approach to performance recovery and injury prevention.
With extensive experience in treating student-athletes, Dr. Cortez combines chiropractic care with advanced therapeutic techniques to help each individual move better, feel stronger, and perform at their peak.

Angel Alberto Cortés

Bio

Angel Alberto Cortés is a dedicated Chiropractic intern specializing in Sports Medicine. His journey at SCU began in the summer of 2022, and he has since accumulated over 1,000 hours of clinical experience. Passionate about rehabilitation, exercise, and the power of movement in promoting longevity and well-being, Angel is committed to helping patients achieve optimal health. With over 20 years of soccer experience, including collegiate competition, Angel brings firsthand knowledge of athletic performance and injury recovery. A native of the SGV, he actively shares this expertise by coaching the next generation of soccer players in his community. Bilingual and an excellent communicator, Angel is dedicated to connecting with patients from all backgrounds and continuously expanding his skills to provide the best possible care. “Short-term investments now produce long-term results later.”

Massage therapy

This is an umbrella term for various forms of myofascial release such as cross-friction , MRT, effleurage, and trigger point therapy.

E-Stim

Fantastic for acute or chronic discomfort in muscle. E-stim is an extremely flexible asset when it comes to rehab utilization.

Stretching

Whether passive or active, stretching is an action that should be done daily for overall well-being. Let me show you the most important ones! Scraping

Scraping

Using a handheld tool, this form of therapy works great for chronic discomfort in the soft tissue. Scraping helps align fibers while promoting blood flow. This combination allows for a higher level of function from muscles, tendons, and ligaments.

Cupping

By drawing out pooled blood in the muscles, we allow for greater circulation of healing factors and oxygen. This form of therapy works well for localized area of tension or weakness.

Corrective exercises

Last but not least, corrective exercises are for the long term results. As a sports medicine specialist, it’s imperative I help you correct any bad habits or compensations.
